I have a Cub Cadet 1204 (Peerless transmission) that I think will soon be converted to a 3 speed with a transmission out of a Cub Cadet 108 (I hate belt drive transmissions!!).
Would the 90 degree gearbox be strong enough to be used for a rear PTO??
It was designed to run at engine speeds, but, PTO work might be too much for the box??
This would open up the creative boundaries of the new 3 speed 1204.
