I can send you a Service Manual for your engine IF you like. Address below, put in proper format and remind me engine model number and what you want. I do not remember ever seeing one and think it may require a special sump. I don't have it on this computer but will look at IPL and see what I can tell.

Not knowing your model number, I did a random search of several possible model numbers and did not find an indication of an oil filter.

A little back ground, that would be a 40 series horizontally opposed engine called 12.5 hp of which a relatively few were made then it went to being called a 14 hp then quickly a 16 hp where it stayed. B&S does not post called hp in the IPLs so it takes some searching to find those. I did find a 402700 series which had two different sumps, one with an oil filter AND an oil pump. This would be for the fairly rare pressure lubed engine and unless your engine is pressure lubed (doubt very much it is) that sump would be of no use to you.

Might help if you posted engine model number.

Yes, that is part of the IPL for the engine I referenced. IF you had that sump it would be evident where the filter went. That sump has provisions for an oil pump which has to be driven off a camshaft with a slot in it to accept the short oil pump drive shaft. So what is the object of posting the picture? Without you model number no way to tell if you have the right camshaft to drive the oil pump.

The camshafts of the two engines have different numbers. There is no indication of an oil filter for your model number. I am not sure it is impossible to adapt an oil filter to your engine but I do not believe it is practical and would involve some ingenuity and adaptation. Thousands of these type engines served well without a filter thru 40, 42 & 46 series, just change the oil regularly.
