History
I'm the third owner.
Honda GXV530-EXA1 engine. Two-barrel carb, overhead cam, wet-belt driven cam system, 16.5 HP. Rear 4 gallon tank, 42-inch 2 blade deck. Hydro-Gear 336-0510 transaxle using 20W-50. Not very common to come by. Only ever seen a few here and there. They popped up a lot this year though for some reason. Original owner bought new back in 03. Looked around the selection of Sears and noticed this was the only model with a Honda engine they had, so he bought it. Sat for several years and had clogged carb. Small brass jets have super tiny holes on the carb that get clogged and won't run after that. Chinese carbs are useless and don't work. Honda one is $116 new. Spark plugs are a NGK BPR5ES. RC12YC will work but it's better off running NGK or Denso. Bosch plugs in general are a good choice as well. Model number for the engine is stamped under the left cylinder if looking at the front of the engine where the intake is.
