Yah, I am color blind so those kinds of maps don't do me a lot of good. I wish I could see the colors though. I think it would be interesting.

These people don't even realize where the electricity is coming from for their electric cars.

Crude oil is created from decomposition of carbon based material over millions of years. Basically, it is plants and animals from the dinosaur age. https://www.croftsystems.net/oil-gas-blog/what-is-oil-made-of Oh, and it's purpose is to make our gasoline motors go fast and to heat our homes...

I think the future is clear and that electric will be replacing a lot gas powered motorized implements. It will be a gradual process (which it should be) and by the time technology advances and the changeover is nearly complete, it will be both performance and cost that drive the change. We...

Well, I bought a used B&D battery powered push mower at the end of the year. I just use it for ten minutes of trimming after doing the yard with my CC rider. I had a gas push mower but it was heavy. I am thinking the electric will be a lot easier to push around and it weighs only about 35 lbs...

UPDATE: I just filled up my CC with premium no ethanol fuel and some Stabil and stored it for the winter. Even with the limited use since my valve cover repair, I am confident that the repair has solved the problem for good. No smoke on start ups an more. The "Change Oil" light came on, but...

Well Flaken: Glad you are in a good place now...for some reason, I thought you live in California now. But glad you are set now. A lot of times, that homeless situation never gets resolved. Florida is humid, but overall, decent weather as long as you are not in the path of a hurricane.

Well, then I guess you are not in the area that PG&E turned off residential power to everyone. You may laugh at us up in Wisconsin in January, but no way would I live in California. Even in one of the areas with beautiful year round weather, I could not deal with the political climate.

Lots of rain all summer long up north here. More than we have needed for sure. Anyway, I got the magnetized bolt dish at Harbor Freight. They give them away free with any purchase every so often. I have three of those dishes, about 6 - 25ft tape measures, about 7 or 8 - 5x7 blue tarps, a...

I went ahead and did the repair today. It got up to 50 with some nice sun. Here is what I found when I pulled the valve cover. I am sure that didn't come from the factory like that, so I am guessing the blue silicone is from when I had it repaired several years ago. My guess is they just...

Alien, yah, I probably torqued it down much over the 65 inch pounds it called for. But, I won't do that again. I will be careful with any "straightening" that I attempt and if I think I compromised it beyond usuability, I will replace it. I think I will be OK though. I don't think I torqued...

OK, so are you guys saying I may have "bent" my valve cover by over tightening it? I guess I can put the cover on some glass to make sure it is flat and try to "fix" it if it isn't. Should I just buy a new valve cover?
  13. Valve cover gasket

Yah, I am tempted to do it today, but with the high for the day not getting above 45, I think I will wait. They are talking high fifties later next week. I would really like to get it done but, I better wait. But, yah, I will go with 65 inch pounds. I just calibrated the torque wrench last...

Another question: When I torque down the bolts with the RTV, do I torque them to the same specs as when using a regular gasket? Valve Cover Valve Cover Fastener Torque................... 11.0 N·m (95 in. lb.) Into new as-cast hole 7.5 N·m (65 in. lb.) Into used hole I am assuming I go with...

Thanks Ray. I decided to wait until later next week. The temps are supposed to rebound into the mid 50's. No need to rush it, I guess. But, yah, I plan to heat the valve cover and motor a bit before I do the RTV gasket.

When it comes to the Motor, I would go with Kohler. I just saw a bunch of reviews on the OEM gasket stating that the cork gaskets keep failing and they were being told to use RTV instead. Since mine failed twice, I have to kinda agree. And, yes, I did torque them down to specs. I just got...

Thanks Ray, that is how I will proceed. I ordered a tube of the Permatex RTV Black Ultra off Amazon and it should be here tomorrow. It is isn't raining out, I will get on it.

I replaced the valve cover gasket on my SV600-0009 (Cub Cadet LT1045) a couple years ago due to leaking. It has started to leak again this year. After snooping around on the net a bit, I find some saying that Cub Cadet no longer recommends replacing the gasket and instead recommends RTV gasket...

Yep, our mowing season is not that long and during dry years I don't mow much at all. I remember one summer where I don't think I mowed more than a half dozen times. Anyway, I just never have paid much attention to it, but I did a mowing deck rebuild on it this week and was wondering how many...

Oh, I was asuming it was the air filter, but same goes for the fuel filter. Try a new one and make sure it is compatible with your motor... most small engine inline fuel filters should work fine.
