Had this X320 tractor 7 years now, and it has always annoyed me that I cant see the fuel level, summer or winter bright or dark.. Can't find an after market gauge kit Just now I took my flashlight which is one of those small narrow intense beam ones, and put it actually touching the plastic...

ok tried the gas cap off, and was able to blow through the tiny hole from the top very easily..... Still needed full choke to start up hot or cold... Is that normal on an X320 or should it start without ANY choke when hot ?

    John Deere Forum
My X320 has always needed full choke to start it..and then it starts with a cloud of smoke.... I have just changed the plugs and battery (now300CAA from 212CCA), and the fuel filter and air intake filter, and sprayed air intake cleaner in and used seafoam in the gas tank... When warm, it now...

  7. Tires/Wheels specification... help ...

    John Deere Forum
My original post was that these tires are expensive, whereas I can buy them from Northern tool complete with rims for $29.99 but in the 15x6-6 size, and whether that would be a better option than spending a lot more for the bigger tire only.... Also, I would then have rims that take popular...

Many thanks for the tip.... I got the tractor with the house 6 years ago and its is a 2010.. My house offer was asking price if he throws in the tractor.. Never had a tractor before and my realtor said I bought a tractor with a free house thrown in... Seems the 15x6.5-8 tire is not common...
  9. Tires/Wheels specification... help ...

    John Deere Forum
My X320 front tires are getting worn so I am researching replacements. My tires are marked 15x6.50-8...The tire size seems uncommon and there are REALLY cheap tire/wheel combos like 15x6.00-6.... I am thinking I should change to a commoner size by buying the tire/wheel combos... Thoughts...

My JD snowblower has two snow plow control shafts, each with two clevis ends and 4 cotter pins held in by cotter rings... The rings are not stainless and mine are rusty /snapping Winter approaches. The dealer wants 3.60 each for the easy-rust rings... Ebay has nothing...not even from China...

    John Deere Forum
Great info ! Anyway here is an update. As suggested coupe of posts above, I tried cranking for 5 seconds without the choke, and then quickly flipping the choke (not holding it on)... The result was it fired up without the usual cloud of black smoke and for the first time ever ! Tractor...

    John Deere Forum
Thanks for that - I will try it .. get some lean mixture in before I apply choke Could be the hesitation is more to do with a stiff transmission/PTO rather than the carb... When I get the mowing deck off to attach the snow blower, I will check out the deck and the transmission and power...
  14. X320 Dirty Oil

    John Deere Forum
I accept that, so my comment about rings relates to the rings not being worn enough to let oil past and into the exhaust, but having sufficient tolerance to let combustion products past and into the crankcase. In addition, I can see that some combustion products can escape via the valve gear...
  15. X320 Dirty Oil

    John Deere Forum
Thanks for that confirmation... I recently bought carb adjusting tools for my trimmers and leaf blower and I enriched the mixtures. That stopped them hesitating/stalling when I slammed on full power. Apparently they are sold with lean mixtures for the EPA and only enriching the mixture will...

Using conventional 10w - 40. It doesn't use any oil between oil changes and the valves are not noisy.....
  17. X320 Dirty Oil

    John Deere Forum
My X320- I did my annual oil change today - after 30 hours only - and the oil was filthy black and like soup. I had just changed the oil on my V6 Camry, also after a year, (6,000 miles), and that was pretty clean. I immediately thought fuel mixture, then I considered that it takes full choke...

It's true - when one is retired, every little worry becomes magnified. Another 10 years of this and I will have red popping eyes and be putting circulars in my neighbors mail boxes saying "I am absolutely enraged at you people callously running over baby turtles on the road near my house, and if...

I actually like that suggestion. I am science freak and would love to use physics to get the darned thing. Walmart should have 5 gallon drums of mercury even if they don't have 22 cal ammo any more.. I will consider that suggestion along with my 'rollover cage' idea. I am also thinking of...
