Re: Gravely L/C8 Rotary Mower Deck Breakage Help!!!

I would use a sickle bar on that...just have to keep the safety clutch set light. I've mowed a lot of riparian buffer with a sickle bar on my C10a. With the larger serrated knives, small saplings...

8162B - died, won't start

Just what the title states, I was testing out my 50 inch mower on my 8162B (single lung 16hp Bringgs) and it just died. It was like someone shut the switch off. It turns over fine, just won't...

Re: Well brought it home...8162-B.

Ok, the good news is that I got my 50 inch mower rebuilt, hung, and even mowed with it. So after many hours of welding and fabricating last summer, I have a fully functional and very solid 50 inch...

Re: Pro 8 quits after running short time

I would check everything...check the AC current from the stator is getting to the rectifier. Check that you get good voltage from the rectifier to the battery. I'm betting a bad wire, rectifier, or...

Re: New Gravely owner questions

The Kohlers respond well to 5w40 synthetic. You may need a thinner oil for Alaska however, like a 10w30 or 5w30, again synthetic is fine.

I've ran Royal Purple 75w140 in the trans before without...

Re: Pro 8 quits after running short time

Bad battery and a bad charging system, sounds like my C10a at one point in life.

Re: Gravely Tire Prices

I buy some things local, but brand name tires for OPE is not one of them. I've bought two sets of All Trails and a set of Snow Hogs from Summit, I've bought the Snow Hogs for my C10a from a...

Re: 8199-G Not Going Forward

On an 8000 they will be splined clutches.

I've seen wheel keys shear and stop going forward and still go reverse.

Re: Repowering a 8160

If the engine is in good condition, then no worries. That single lung Briggs is a fairly durable piece.

There are repower options if necessary. There is a gentleman that offers kits to repower,...

Re: need tires for my 60" deck...any thoughts?

I have tubeless pneumatic on my Grasshopper. A little Slime, and the air issue is pretty much a non-issue. I've only added air twice in maybe seven years?

Re: need tires for my 60" deck...any thoughts?

We have two 60 inch decks, one early (1982) with the small solid front caster (non-swivel) and one later with pneumatic tires (all four same size, front swivel). Was there one more?

Re: Free 816 But I'm Mechanically Illiterate!

Ask around, I found a Briggs carb from another Gravely owner. I've heard the knockoffs aren't worth buying.

Mine has always taken a lot of cranking to fire, but always starts. It didn't matter...

Re: Free 816 But I'm Mechanically Illiterate!

Any leaks at that point will cause a lean condition, not to mention dirt ingestion. JB Weld it solid...it can always be removed either cutting or heating.
