Re: What is the biggest baddest Super-GT ever made?

It doesn't have to be closed-loop EFI, it has to be gas. If I'm getting new because that's the best tool for the scenario then it should probably be closed-loop EFI because it seems stupid to give...

Re: What is the biggest baddest Super-GT ever made?

It's not a "distaste" like how I hate the herb rosemary, it's almost a physical aversion to nonsense. I cannot bring myself to pay a huge up-front premium to take on what I believe to be a supremely...

Re: What is the biggest baddest Super-GT ever made?

Far from it, that's why I need a bigger badder tractor...to get chores done quicker and get back to my family.

What is the biggest baddest Super-GT ever made?

I want a SCUT, but more than the "SCUT" classification I want a gas engine beast of a workhorse (see https://www.mytractorforum.com/320-shed/1266802-why-no-gas-scuts.html for my reasoning on gas). ...

Re: PowerBoss Generator

BUT, you don't need a 0.01% THD inverter to run sensitive electronics, you only need "clean enough" (<6% THD) which many conventional generators provide if you read the specs. I also read somewhere;...

Re: PowerBoss Generator

Good point Tractor-Holic, anecdotally I have heard furnaces and boilers seem to have really sensitive and really fragile electronics.

tvl: $2,000 is way way way more than you need to spend to...

Re: PowerBoss Generator

No. Some conventional generators are rated by the manufacturer for <5% THD (https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200664808_200664808) (Total Harmonic Distortion), other conventional...

Re: Putting gas in the #$% thing

I bought one of these for my dad to pump tiny amounts of fuel into a push-mower from 5-gal cans because 95% of his gas-can consumption is in >50HP watercraft so almost all of his gas-cans are 5 & 6...

Re: Predator 4000 Generator from HBF

NO! That is almost guaranteed to ruin one or both of your generators!

Try the method Generac recommends: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LR62sm7USU

Re: Honda EU2000i magnetic drain plug

I got the "harbor freight predator" version from 6061Dude on ebay and he is either Asperger syndrome or a real Richard... but the price is right and the "predator" version fits my Lifan 3.5 HP...

Re: Why no gas SCUTs?

I may have to put my 2.2L ECOTEC in it... I think Jay Leno called it "the new small-block chevy" or something similar. My car will rust in half before that engine hiccups. (And I drive it like I hate...

Re: Why no gas SCUTs?

You're pretty good at digging this stuff up. Can you find a chart for the ELH 750 which I mentioned in post #8 of this thread (27 HP with torque peak at 2400 instead of the 3400 peak of the ELH...

Re: Why no gas SCUTs?

Awesome work with Excel there, that makes things really easy to see. I used to be able to do that but it's been been 5+ years since I tried anything more advanced than "Auto-SUM"

My contention...

Re: Why no gas SCUTs?

Because I want a shaft-driven (AFAIK 3-pt rear) snow-blower, FEL, 3-pt with enough lift height to work a sub-soiler, and enough lift capacity (FEL & 3-pt) to get me through 30 years on this property....

Re: Why no gas SCUTs?

My point was in this space of 20-30 HP engines, if the gas engine does not deliver enough torque at the proper RPM it is not the right gas engine for the job. People make false arguments here that I...

Re: Why no gas SCUTs?

I'm 99% sure the X730 uses an Open-Loop EFI engine, meaning it's barely better than a carburetor... Open loop EFI fuels according to a programed table for RPM, Load, Temp, maybe other things like...

Re: Why no gas SCUTs?

:congrats::congrats::congrats:
Bravo Mark.

Torque is a non-issue. If the gas engine doesn't have enough torque, it's not the right (gas) engine for the application. Engine longevity is a...

Re: Why no gas SCUTs?

Re: Why no gas SCUTs?

I wasn't very clear there... I'm going to have to get a GREAT deal on something with a blown engine to pay cash for it instead of low rate financing. I'm also taking on a machine that already has...

Re: Why no gas SCUTs?

Because:
a) Everyone knows gas engines make more HP than diesels
b) It was the first (and only) horizontal shaft liquid cooled engine on Kawasaki's website (I have a JD GT with a Kawi).
c) I'm...

Re: Why no gas SCUTs?

Yeah, I'm figuring that out.

But is resale 100% or more of the premium you pay at purchase time? Also, anything is possible, but I would foresee owning the same equipment for 20-30 years. I've...

Re: Why no gas SCUTs?

3TNM72 from a Deere 1023e vs Gas Kawasaki FD851D:

Yanmar 50 N*M Torque - no curve, flat as a pool table.
Kawi 65 N*M Torque - peaky... But... 53 N*M at 1,200 RPM. The Kawi makes more torque at...
