Re: More Projects

The 10600 looks great glad you got it together, how much did the powder coater charge do do a deck? And did they strip it down for you or did you have to strip it yourself? Itís a shame mowing...

Re: $20 Kemp Shredder S

That motor looks to me like a 5hp Briggs. The second shaft (I believe driven off the cam) was for stuff like snowblowers that used it for reverse. Briggs made that motor for 50+ years and parts are...

Re: new to me Lawn-Boy mowers...

To do that conversion you would need to cut a hole in the deck (belt runs under the deck for the V as opposed to on top), get the lower profile drive cover, the shorter input shaft, different cable...

Re: new to me Lawn-Boy mowers...

Just from those pictures, I can tell youíre gonna need reeds, upper and lower crank seals, rings and probably a piston. Usually when the piston looks that bad the cylinder is scored beyond use. ...

Re: new to me Lawn-Boy mowers...

Looks and sounds great to me, and I think it might run smoother/nicer than any of my Vs. Iím glad the blade timing worked out for you. Theyíre great light mowers and nice to use this time of year...

Wasnít really sure where to post this, so feel free to move it if need be, anyway, I spotted this deck this morning while I was up at the junkyard I frequent, immediately recognized it as the pretty...

Re: new to me Lawn-Boy mowers...

Everything looks great there, these pre 98 decks seem to be made of better steel and will last you a long time especially protected. I can add a link to the service manual, was just giving my advice...

Re: new to me Lawn-Boy mowers...

The link you posted is just for the D and F engines tho,

I just checked the V service manual and from what I see it just says install the blade and torque it. Not sure where I heard that, but it...

Re: new to me Lawn-Boy mowers...

I have the service manual somewhere and I believe it was mentioned in there. Not 100% sure but it sure works for me. You are correct about the F series being timed in line with the piston. The V...

Re: new to me Lawn-Boy mowers...

Nice finds for sure. I have owned many of both of those mowers, and everybody on here knows I favor the V engines, but I ran a couple 10323s for a few years and they were far more reliable than any...

Re: Remove toe bar?

I have seen quite a few decks cracked from people taking the toe bar out, when I picked up my 10550 before I even left the junkyard I stole one off another mower just for the peace of mind. That...

Re: More Projects

I have had decently good luck carefully removing the decals with a razor blade then adding a little adhesive of your choice to reuse them, if you use a razor blade to smooth them when reapplying they...

Re: More Projects

That sucks, hopefully youíll be able to locate a replacement deck, I think a few residential models used the same deck or a similar one just without the holes for the tank stand and front guard? ...

Re: My latest LB acquisitions

Thank you! I second everything you say, the power and the weight are fantastic, you are fortunate that the 10227 has the 4.75 motor which means it has the thrust bearing on the crank, in my opinion...

Re: My latest LB acquisitions

I too am a huge fan of the F engines, next spring Iím hoping to nab a decent 10518 or 10523 to add to the fleet. For now Iím happy, if I wasnít so lazy I woulda bought that 10301 you had on...
