Whirly....got it back in and it works fine..don't throw them away anymore, they are tedious, but simple to get apart ....just getting back together is a little tricky ...but it works fine....seems that any lube inside drys out and causes binding.....I don't like to force anything, so I did not try that....but I imagine a drop of light oil like 3 in 1 or some lithium spray at the base, and work it in would prevent it ....or make it take a lot longer to happen again....keep your tractor seat warm

    Whirly,

Wonder if you can answer a question for me?

    Electric PTOs in general.

It you remove the electric connector, are there always 2 tabs on the PTO wire, or some only 1 tab?

To see it they work (Click test) do you run both a Neg wire and a Pos wire from the battery and touch both tabs, or is Neg already there?

On my Craftsman 917.251522 if I disconnect the PTO wire connector I see a red and a black wire on the harness going up to dash.
I see 2 black wires going to the PTO. I assume from this it makes no difference to the PTO which wire I touch Pos to. As long as other wire is Neg.

    Is that how it works?
