Re: Grandpa's 1964 Gravely Li

Hello Im new to the forum, My name is Justin, I just had a question, I am restoring a 1971 Gravely 7.6 super convertible, when I got mine the hood was not mounted on it and I had no hinge for the hood so I got a hinge off of a friend of mine but Im not sure if it is factory or not but it would really help if I could see a picture of how the hood mounts. so if you could hep me out I would greatly appreciate it. thanks.

There should be a rod through the two holes at the bottom front edge of the hood. The rod sets in a lip on the front edge of the battery tray which creates a hinge point. The hood will either hinge forward or lift off depending on what attachment is on the front of the tractor. The hook on the front battery hold down rod may interfere with the hood rod entering the lip and the hook may need to be ground to be shorter while still catching the battery tray hole. Richard's Lawn and Garden in WV http://www.gravelyparts.com is a good source of Gravely parts if you are missing the rod.
