Pics of new Digital Tach, Throttle Assembly and Ol' School Steering Wheel Spinner

Been busy this past week installing the new digital tach/hour meter on mower.

Also, installed a new and had to modify a new throttle assembly to remount and work from where old throttle assembly was. Best improvement done. Don't know why factory didn't do this for smoother operation without binding.

Couldn't let all this improvement go without putting on a part I found in a tool drawer in my mom/dad's garage, that I know they'll never use. Everyone needs a steering wheel spinner knob. Suicide knob for us ol' school guys.

Pictures tell the tale.

Looks good. I got mine in several days ago. Haven't had a chance to hook it up yet. I probably will this weekend or tomorrow night. Do you feel like the tach is accurate?

Good to hear. I feel like my XT3 has a low fast idle from the factory. Interested to see what it runs at

I really don't know Steve about the rpms. Not having another digital tach to compare speeds, I can only guess if its correct in the readings.

I can say the tach is quick on its readout for being a external wire/loop induction reader. While cheap costing, it seems reliable in design. In another week, I'm giving my review to Amazon as to what I think. So far, its certainly a 5-star rating.

When I rev'd motor up to the high speed stop(after engine warmed up) that's built into the cable holder assembly on my ONAN, the tach went to 32-3300+ rpms and didn't waver much more than 20rpms and my engine is designed as a "13BN" coded model that is made to run at 3600 rpms, and with the change to a new throttle cable assembly, it's giving me higher engine speeds than I've ever had/heard before, since I purchased the mower used, back in 2015.

I'll probably also purchase a non-touch tach reader and do comparisons. It wouldn't surprise me if I need to do a re-loop or two of the digital tach I installed. I have what was recommended of 5 loops for now. I tried different loops and I got from 900rpm up to 8000rpm from 3-7 loops and throttle about 1/4 throttle to hold engine steady off idle. So 5 wire wraps seems to be about correct for my engine. When I throttle down to idle, tach drops to around 12-1300rpm which 1200rpms is correct as lowest.
