Broccoli information

Just yesterday my wife harvested a nice crop of broccoli,
my question now is what becomes of the existing plant?

Will the plant have a second growth ???

Thanks,

Re: Broccoli information

Yes, it will shoot out several small flowerets.

I'll assume this is the first time you have raised it, so I'm really hoping you soaked it in a salt brine solution, before eating it, whether you sprayed it for pests or not.

Considering the small flowerets, would we be better off pulling the plant and planting something else in its place or simply be happy with a smaller second crop.

And yes, she blanched it in salted water and then vacuum sealed and froze it.

Thanks for your reply.

Re: Broccoli information

I do like broccoli, when we go out to eat I'll often order steamed broccoli as a side rather than a loaded baked potato.

Just checking... I had a friend who just picked it, and froze in bags. The Deer in the headlight look I got, when I asked her about it, a couple of months later, and explained why, was priceless..!! I'm assuming it went into a casserole, and not just prepared by itself. I told her she just found a way to get some extra protein in her meals. She failed to see the humor in it...
