Re: Whats your canning salsa recipe?

Have you ever tried any of the Mrs. Wages mixes..?? That's all I use anymore. You can buy a small tub of the medium hot mix, if you make larger amounts. It will make 14 pints, where the pouches only make 5. Cost is like $6, depending where you buy it. My preferred store brand is Pace, and it's as close to anything else I've tried. Pretty simple to make. Get your tomatoes to desired consistency in a pot, add mix, bring to a boil, then simmer for 20 minutes. HWB process for 40 minutes, and you're done. I like the medium, and hot both, depending on what I'm using it with, but they only make the tubs of medium, for the large batch. I wrote the company suggesting making tubs for the hot. Got the reply that it would be passed on, to those upstairs. That was 2 years ago, and still haven't seen any on the shelf.

I also make the Mrs. Wages Pizza Sauce, minus the sugar in the recipe. I don't like sweet sauce. Same with the Pasta Sauce. And they make a really good Chili base too..!! Got them all stashed away on the cellar shelves for this winter...
