Mule PRO FX VS. JD Gator / Opinions please

I've been shopping for a UTV lately. I have it down to either the Mule or a Gator.
This will mainly be used for:
-cutting wood and hauling
-various maintenance on our 3 acres
-short family rides around the neighborhood
I don't hunt my home property. I will have to haul the utv to the property I hunt.
My JD dealer is about 2 miles from my house. They have a leftover 2018 XUV825M for $12,100. 0% financing for 48 months. This thing really has my attention and seems like exactly what I am looking for at a great price and excellent financing. It is a two seater though and I would like to have three seats. My wife and I have two boys that I will take with on certain ventures. I'm also not so fond of this JD dealer. I bought a used JD riding lawn mower from them that turned out to be a somewhat bad deal.
My Kawasaki dealer is 27 miles away. They are a very good dealer with a great reputation. I don't know much about the Mule but they get great reviews and also sounds like all of the machine I would need. The other good thing about the Mule is the third seatbelt and actual 3rd seat spot. The Mule is over $13,000 and the best financing rate they have is 4.99%. The other turn-off about the Mule is the tailgate latches. It has two where the Gator has one just like a truck tailgate.
Any opinions on what you would buy over the other? Do the newer Gators still bust drive shafts like I hear the older ones do?
Thank you!

Re: Mule PRO FX VS. JD Gator / Opinions please

Just my opinion, but I would go with the mule. I owned a Mule 610 for 11 years and it went back to the dealership one time for trash in the carb. I replaced a starter myself and some batteries over the years. Got a chance to sell it along with some other equipment in 2017 and never looked at anything else seriously except a Mule. I bought a Mule SX XC in 2018 and have been very pleased. I know you are looking at larger machines than I'm talking about but Mules are made to work and last. They are not fast but I'm 66 and 25 mph is fast enough for me. The tailgate latches are not a problem. They are simple and provide a positive latch. I did buy a year too early because the same unit now is fuel injected. Other than that I would like power steering but overall, I am very satisfied. I am a JD tractor owner and operate large JD tractors for a friend when he needs help with his large farm so I am definitely not against JD I just think Mules are better built and built for the long haul. I wouldn't worry about having to haul it to a dealership and if you do you need to have confidence in your dealership. That is my free opinion so take it for what it is worth.

Re: Mule PRO FX VS. JD Gator / Opinions please

Thanks so much for the reply. I have an update on my search....the Gator is out. I like JD and the Gator is a good machine but in my opinion the Mule is better from what I know and have read.
I do have a new dilemma though. I looked at the Kubota Sidekick today and it is also very nice. Right now Kubota has 0% financing which is great. The Kawasaki's do not have 0%. The Kubota does not offer three seats/seatbelts unless you get a machine with two rows of seats which I'm not doing because the box is tiny.
So it's between the Kawi or the Kubota now. This is an even tougher choice though, they both seem great and get great reviews as work machines even though the Sidekick is fairly new. I drove both and liked both. It's going to come down to choosing one over the other after deciding which small things matter more.
If anyone else reads this that has a Sidekick or newer Mule, please reply!
Thank you!
