John Deere 400: snowthrower bearing trouble

Hello all,
I’ve been struggling away trying to get the left-side auger bearing off my model 50 snow thrower. The bearing is done and I can’t seem to get the inner race to slide off the shaft. I drove the shaft sideways and moved the bearing a bit but now the auger is hitting the housing on the opposite side. I don’t think I have room to get a gear puller on the bearing. Is the shaft meant to slide all the way through inside the auger pieces? Is heating up the inner race the solution here? I don’t have torches or I’d have tried that already. Any help or advice is appreciated. I’m in Canada and 400s and attachments seem pretty scarce. Thanks
Ryan

The driveshaft axle goes all the way through the auger. Have you loosened the eccentric collar on the inner bearing race? You'll need to loosen both collars and slide the shaft over. IIRC when I replaced the bearings, I made sure that the bearing plates were reinstalled from the outside to make future bearing replacement easier. I may not be remembering correctly, though.

Thanks! Yes eccentric collars are off. I’m going to try heating the bearings.
