John Deere 400: model 50 snow thrower bearing replacement
I’ve been struggling away trying to get the left-side auger bearing off my model 50 snow thrower. The bearing is done and I can’t seem to get the inner race to slide off the shaft. I drove the shaft sideways and moved the bearing a bit but now the auger is hitting the housing on the opposite side. I don’t think I have room to get a gear puller on the bearing. Is the shaft meant to slide all the way through inside the auger pieces? Is heating up the inner race the solution here? I don’t have torches or I’d have tried that already. Any help or advice is appreciated. I’m in Canada and 400s and attachments seem pretty scarce.
