It is, but it is large, was thinking using (2) with some creative pipeing. Would fit in the heat shield. Package said it was rated for 14 - 16 HP.

May be louder, not too concerned about that. OEM if available is 169.00

Re: The "Blue Money Pit"

Seems to work in this application. http://www.michaelstractors.com/foru...?TOPIC_ID=4587

I would want to use (2) Plenty of room for them, plus I would need to add a support bracket on the second.

$7.99 each, Not out much if it dosn't work.

Re: The "Blue Money Pit"

Ok, Muffler looks to be solved with something usable.
Deck in the welding shop.
Roller bar will either work, or I get a 49" piece of stock.
Think I found the 6" X 2-1/2" rollers at a Marine Supply. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=50816

They come in 12" lengths, I have a saw.

Lastly is to find two pullies 5" with 1" shaft keyed opening.

Re: The "Blue Money Pit"

Spent the day pully searching, Local New Holland dealer said the Jackabson part is NLA , Checked a local bearing company, he has something close for $35.00 each Went back to the office and found this in a search http://www.thebigbearingstore.com/se...ustrial/Detail
Looks like this will work for the two outside mandrill's.

Re: The "Blue Money Pit"

You could probably find a nice used nelson muffler off of a walk behind with a Kawasaki V-Twin. That is one of my favorite mufflers to put on a project, sooo quiet! They are NOT CHEAP new, the best way I have found to get one is drop by the local repair shops every now and then and sooner or later a commercial landscaper will blow the Kawi on one of their units; the new engines come with a new muffler. Every now and again you will get really lucky and find one where the muffler was replaced not long before the engine blew.

Always keeping my eyes open for parts deals. Today was a chance to spend time looking for the elusive 5" pullies, Felt like I was hunting "snipes". I think / hope the muffler to be easier. I'll be getting the Deck from the welder next Wednesday, things may slow down again till after the Hollidays (Funds are being diverted).

Re: The "Blue Money Pit"

Larry, just find 3 that ate the same size , anywhere from 4.5-5 should work fine, make absolutely sure the hole is not an odd size, and get something from a place like surplus center, you might need to have a bit machined off the hub, but they will last if they are cast steel instead of pressed tin. Also a decent mower shop should have something that would work too. They don't need to be a perfect match, but getting close is always nicer.
Mine were nothing but swiss cheese and I was able to find 3 and made them work, I love how mine mows , it does a better job than the neighbors Toro ever thought of, and they make killer mowers.

Re: The "Blue Money Pit"

The one I posted above, and the ones I looked at locally, the hub is too short, I guess I can add flat washers, or a 1" bushing to make up the difference. I'll be getting the ones from the site listed above for $17.99 each.

Re: The "Blue Money Pit"

If you find ones that fit except the center hole, boring and broaching a new keyway is easy enough for a machine shop. Downside is that then the $35 pulleys will be the money saving route.
