Technical advice on Husquvarna GT

Hey everyone,

Look for some advice here (new to the site). I have purchased two previous tractors used. A small husquvarna lawn tractor and a large cub cadet 2082. Both ended up being flops. Not because they are bad tractors, but because the previous owners were deceptive and looking to make a quick but on used junk. I have around 4-4.5 acres of mowable land, most of which is steep up slope, and none of them were able to make it.

In June, we are going to purchase a new garden tractor and I have landed on Husquvarna. I am very confused though on the differences between the models. I have narrowed it down to the following:

TS354D
TS354X
TS354XD

If anyone could explain the difference and if anyone has a recommendation I'd love to hear it. I want the best performing of the three and heaviest duty of the three. I have already set the money aside for either of them, so I just want to get what is going to work for me.

Thanks!

Look at this link for another thread on the same https://www.mytractorforum.com/64-husqvarna-dixon/1323345-difference-between-ts348d-ts348xd.html

If you have hills as I do, you would want the locking differential I have the 2018 TS354XD but apparently there are differences between 2018 and 2019 versions. I would suggest if you can get to a dealer, where you can put eyes on in stock tractors, do so as Husqvarna makes changes throughout the year and their website leaves a lot to be desired. I have a posting on here where I give my opinions after a month on my TS354XD as well as a short post on the capability of the locking diff.

I would second Dave in MD on the locking differential.

I would also make sure your model has the "chassis reinforcement plate", on the chassis.

If you plan on carts and grass cutting they will be fine, Very comfortable and cut grass well.

I am a fan of the fabricated deck, the gen 2 is very powerful and strong. The mulch kit, complete is approx $80. a good buy for fabricated decks, I have one.

I also like the Kawasaki motor, and recommend it. It works well.

As a word of caution, they don't have a chassis for garden tractor work (ground engagement work). The chassis weighs just 26lbs and is the same 12 gauge steel used on the small 42" grass cutters that Husqvarna built for brands such as Ariens, Craftsman and such.

Husqvarna is starting to recognize this in their adverts now, and they call them riding lawn mowers. Under the transmission specs they have taken out the ground engagement work part and just leave the commercial grade description in.

I like to think of it as the almost there Garden tractor.

1. Tuff Torq K66 with locking diff. Has been great!
2. Kawasaki motor, again, a powerhouse.
3. Large 23"X12"X10.5 Wheels and tires on the rear, mounted to 1" axles.
4. Fabricated Deck, very durable and easy to remove.

If they had just given a properly welded channel chassis such as the current brands of Garden Tractors (Husqvarna uses a common flexible pan style chassis), it would be an unbeatable purchase. The almost there garden tractor :tango_face_smile:
