Kubota L4610 service time!

Ugh... $400 later, we’re good to go for many more hours. Kubota fuel, oil, hydraulic, and HST filters totaled about $140. Hydraulic fluid was about $216. Plus 2 gallons of Shell Rotella diesel oil.
The HST filter I’m thinking might have been original to the tractor in the early 2000s. All the other filters were Wix, but the HST one was still Kubota branded. Fluid itself didn’t seem too bad. Hydraulic filter sounded like there’s solids in it, and had a big chunk of silicone on it. HST filter was stuck but good. The housing twisted on the flange trying to loosen it with channelock pliers. A screwdriver and hammer prevailed where a spanner wrench was designed. Was a bit rusty on top.

My best friends today were a funnel with a flexi extension and a couple tarp straps. A 1 gallon ice cream pail made it real easy to pour in the hydraulic fluid a gallon at a time. I recommend this process to fill a hydraulic system when an oil pump isn’t handy. Sure made it easy. Same went for engine

Phone is being stupid. I’ll have to add slightly more interesting pictures later.

HST oil usually looks clean. If the filter is that old, chances are the oil was too. As much as you use that tractor it was probably happy to get some maintenance. Then again, it's a Kubota. Who knows how long it would run without it.

More pictures...

Oil and fuel filters with easy to see information written on them. Lots of sediment in the fuel filter bowl. I had the presence of mind to write down the wix numbers in my notes to replace filters again down the road with aftermarket if I feel cheap when the tractor is old and I don’t care as much about it, and have ambition to research if Wix filters are as good or better than Kubota for 1/5 the price.

Not one, but TWO drain plugs on oil pan. There were also two drain plugs on the hydro system- one on the hydraulic reservoir and one on the trans. Very handy, since they drain independently and the entire system holds over 10 gallons. I was able to get about 7.5 drained out. I wasn’t going to screw with removing lines and draining the loader. Level may drop a little so I’ll add more if needed.

Next (and last) pic was the chunk of silicone found atop the hydraulic filter.

Next pic shows the funnel strapped in place to fill the engine oil. Used the same truck to fill the hydraulic reservoir back up.

Tip: ALWAYS label the new filters with date and hours changed at (or next service due information)).
