Pics to come... but tryin to attach belly mower and running into an issue with front draft arms. Am I missing a part-like a bracket? Or can I make this work?
I'm not totally familiar with your tractor, but if JDPARTS shows a bracket on your tractor, that also shows the deck arms, and you dont have that bracket, chances are: you need it.
Thanks, yeah I think I’m gonna have to buy it. I just didn’t want to get a bracket ($165) and the pin fastener ($40) Without being able to return either if there was another way. I’ve tinkered with it enough to know I’m missing something. Gotta bite the bullet I suppose.
So I ordered the bracket and the pin fastener (part #13 in the above diagram) from another supplier. They just contacted me and I don't think they have the part, which is a long pin fastener. This is a $45 part and it has me wondering, could I fabricate a pin fastener myself from 1/2" steel rod or even use a threaded rod and attach using bolts and washers? Only bad part is I cannot confirm the diameter of the pin fastener. Any pics of this part on an actual tractor would help greatly. Or feel free to give me your $0.02
Pin looks the same as the one I have on the brush guard on my X738. Local dealer should have one for you to measure, maybe even try. They don’t tend to change something like that.
Dealer wasn't much help...it's an obsolete part so it's not longer made. Contacted the company that I originally put my order in through and they mentioned they should be able to get it, but not going to hold my breath. Just looking for another option if/when they tell me they cant get it.
Wasnt sure if a threaded rod would be strong enough, but I dont really know how it is utilized on the bracket.
It would be easy to fabricate a pin. I can't find a spec for the size since it is obsolete. That front bottom hole in your frame in your second picture is where it goes. Measure the diameter of that hole and get a rod that size and long enoiught to extend past the frame on both sides enough that you can drill holes for cotter pins to hold it in. I was thinking it might be 5/8" but not sure. A threaded rod would work, but I would prefer a smooth rod if you can find one.
Yep! Unfortunaltely I already purchased the bracket and now the pin separately, but this would have been perfect. I can't just use what I have on my tractor as the front arms don't have a way to sit into the frame (second pic I attached), so I obviously need the black bracket and then the pin. Thanks for finding this on ebay though, because I may need to resell the one I purchased if a pin doesn't come along soon.
Need some help. Here’s what I have going on (see pics). Left front arm is fixed and right clevis adjusts but I can’t figure out how to get the front of the deck raised any higher.
I attached the black bracket to the frame so now the front draft arms sit nice and tight but now it seems like they sit too low and there’s some slack that needs to be made up. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Deck height is adjusted by the rear lift arms. The front pivots up as you lift the back. At least that's how it works on the 2305- which looks different, but geometrically is actually the same principle.
You adjust the front arms once - just to level the deck... after that, it's self adjusting for deck height setting.
So the arms are threaded and are adjustable on the front of mine... does your arm have any adjustment?... looks like would it be at the deck attach-points?
In the picture my deck is raised as far as I can get it, and still the front is barely off the ground, hence my issue.
I could probably shorten the rear links a little more (like maybe an inch) but would that bring the front that far up?
Should the front arms be detached and the deck lifted to its highest position before I attach them?
So I found a pic of the manual online and it appears my new bracket is different than the one shown in the manual...the yellow bracket sits closer to the front in the manual and farther back on mine....is that part of the issue possibly?
Yea that's definitely your issue. .
Can you re-work your bracket install?....It's either that, or shorten your front arms.... accomplishes the same thing.
So the seller agreed to swap my part with the one that the manual shows. Hopefully this solved it. I’ll report back either way here in a few days. Fingers crossed ?
So what happened? Hopefully, no news is Good News.
