JD 75 FEL for 850

Have the opportunity to buy a 75 JD FEL and all the mounting brackets. Itís coming off a 950 and would be going on my 850. TractorData and JD say the FEL for the 850 is a JD 80 however it looks like the 75 also fits the 850 from my research and Iím told it will. Can anyone confirm or provide any advice/nuances on compatibility of the 75 FEL with the 850 or details to consider. Thanks

Re: JD 75 FEL for 850

Confirm that your tractor has all of the hydraulic components necessary to operate a loader.

A few years ago, one of the members had to jump through hoops to find one JD only component to get a source of fluid for his loader on, I believe, a 650 or 750. He finally found it on ebay, I think. It was NLA at JD.

Without that component, a separate hydraulic pump and reservoir are necessary for the loader.

Re: JD 75 FEL for 850

Thanks for the info, feedback. Getting pictures of the set-up including hydraulics for the current 950 set-up to compare to my hydraulics set-up with my 850. Ill post it for additional feedback. I think the only missing item is going to be the controls. Also will post the mounting details and ask you and anyone who has knowledge to let me know their thoughts. Pretty confident it will mount fine with the purchased package. Questions about the hydraulics plumbing is the key (plus adding the new control). Thanks

Re: JD 75 FEL for 850

Verified that my 850 has all the needed hydraulic plumbing/components for the FEL and controls (✔️). Just need handle levers to mount to the in place controls. Last week found and bought a super nice JD 80 loader that came with the full mounting brackets/hardware and hoses. So far things look to be lining up well with it working nicely with my 1982 JD 850. Would appreciate any advice from fellow members who have done the same/similar project. I will post updates/pictures as I go through the mounting activities for anyone in the future who also takes on a similar project. Wish me well. Thanks

Re: JD 75 FEL for 850

We completed the first part of the project to mount the 80 loader today. Hardest part was getting the old 423 mounting bracket off the 850. Didnít know exactly what it was until I researching it from the JD badge plate numbers. Turns out it was a mounting set-up for a front utility blade (JD 423 front blade). It had two welded nuts on the front of the bracket that we had to cut off. Once we got that off, the FEL mounting brackets went on the tractor pretty straight forward. Tomorrow we will attach the loader.

Re: JD 75 FEL for 850

Got the loader attached today. Everything fit together fine except we needed to add some new couplers to make the connection from the FEL hoses to the 850ís hydraulic box fittings. The loader works good, goes up nice and tilts nice, holds nice. We will finish the project up next week by attaching the fabricated handles and reattach the hood. All done with the big stuff and now just some of the smaller finish work remains. This whole project went way smoother than I was expecting which is great and a relief. I will post some additional thoughts and lessons learned for anyone else considering a similar project to add an 80 JD loader to an 850 JD tractor. Thanks

Re: JD 75 FEL for 850

Got the handles mounted and the hood reattached. Dipped the fabricated handles in liquid plastic for the nobs. Had to fabricate a steel plate for for the bottom front hood attachment area. Everything came together real nice. Pretty much done with the 80 loader project for my 850.
