Unhappy Time To Dump The Conquest 4x4

Well guys,
Time to get rid of it. Just not big or reliable enough for what we do, mowing 3+ very hilly acres on the farm. Just got the engine running on both cylinders again, and then the k664 died. Needed a new pump, motor, and Center case, for a healthy $800 . So my point is, what should I look for next? Budget is $4000 CAD. Preferably something with a heavy transmission and a machine that is easy to work on. Also, don’t want something too old either.
Thanks in advance,

Re: Time To Dump The Conquest 4x4

I hear you. My Conquest was a GREAT machine, but the K66 struggled on the steep hills by my ditch line. I am a bigger guy and although the K66 did always make it up the hills, it struggled a bit under load. Towing the trailer up to the brush pile would slow it down. The K72 in the Prestige has Zero issues at the ditch line and the only way that I have taxed it at all is when going to the brush pile (about 70 feet of rise in about 300 yards with some steeper inclines) when towing a 1600 pound 5X10 trailer with a load of wood in it (perhaps 3,000 pounds total).

A Prestige would be a better bet. Same great cut plus more power. If not, a Legacy would be next. Again, a quality cut and the power of a K92. My next upgrade will be to a SCUT, most likely a Massey Ferguson GC1725 with a backhoe, but the Prestige would still mow...the MF would take over all of the real tractor type duties.

Edit: I re-read your post and see that you have a Kioti and you are looking in the used price range. I would think that a Legacy with only a mower deck would be found in your price range. Otherwise, an older JD 4xx or 5xx would have the same K92 power, but the mower cut would not be as good.

I own a 2017 Simplicity Prestige 27/52 EFI, JB Jr, Johnny Plow Jr.
From 2015 to 2017 I owned a used 2013 Simplicity Conquest 27/50.
From 1996 until 2015 I owned a White LT-16 Vanguard V-twin and 2 stage blower.
In 1991 I purchased a used 1984 Gilson 16 HP opposed twin. It was a horse!

I actually had a 23hp prestige, found traction to be an issue. With wheel weights and ag’s I think it would be ok, just ad it to the budget...

Re: Time To Dump The Conquest 4x4

My Prestige is the new fuel injected 2wd. It has rears filled with about 75 pounds of Rimguard each plus cast iron wheel weights that add another 53 or so pounds each. I have pretty good traction. In the winter, I plow. I have an additional 134 pounds of weight that I put on the rear hitch, plus the weight of the snow cab. It also works well.

When you reply a window opens up for you to type. Scroll down to bottom left and see the " manage attachments" Hit that and a window opens up and says "choose a file". Hit that for every picture you want to upload to the thread. Then hit "submit"

Re: Time To Dump The Conquest 4x4

You don't need to go to a K92 just because you have a lot of hills. The K72 is more than capable on steep hills. My JD X500 and X530 both handle some very impressive hills on my property and have never been at a loss for power. In certain circumstances there can be a loss of traction, but that can be controlled by either more weight or using the differential lock pedal.

You know you might be a Nouveau Redneck if...
1. You use the cup holder on your tractor to hold your cosmopolitan instead of a beer
2. Your "Santa on a tractor" Christmas yard decoration is actually a high tech digital hologram.
3. Your deer camp cuisine is better than most 3 star restaurants.
