Models in Canada with rear discharge?
There are lots of old threads on rear discharge but nothing recent. When I google for rear discharge riding mowers I find mostly ZTR and the JD X350R which at over $6000 is way more than I want to spend. Most other google hits are for models that appear to only be available outside of North America. I don't get why they don't serve the North American market.
I don't want a ZTR and I can't use a very wide deck. My current 42" deck just barely fits through some of the tight spaces I mow. I added an OCDC to it but it is not a discharge blocker but rather just lifts the chute so I can mow tight on the right (discharge) side. I do have a mulching plug but it is a PITA to put on/take off when all I want to do is to keep the discharge from blowing places I don't want. As it is now, I have a pattern where I mow reverse NASCAR style for a few passes to get far enough away so I can then mow NASCAR style.
Since I decided to come out of retirement and now work at least 4 days a week, it limits my options of choosing when to mow so mowing with the mulching plug is not the answer as I get too much clumping and clogging of the deck.
I don't plan to bag often but I'd like to have a bagger option without the catcher sticking out the side. When needed, I sweep but my sweeper doesn't fit through the tight spaces I mow and it cannot clean tight to the edge. Also the sweeper messes up the striping effect.
I'm pretty much resigned to not finding what I want in my price point. Slowly as the trees die, I eliminate some of the tight spaces I have to navigate through. Now to only get the wife to not create more tight spaces with her gardens and trees she plants.
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it!
