Freebie

It's a good thing my wife is going to be at her parents for at least another month. Tomorrow I'm going to pick up another tractor, which will be #4. It's a 1987 Ariens GT-18. All I know about it at this point is that it was parked when the starter went out, but was running except for that. I did stop on my way home tonight to get a quick look at it and it isn't as bad as the HT-16 that I sold last week, so there's hope I guess. The tires are all either very low or completely flat. So far, that's what I know. Pictures tomorrow.

My "honey-do list" is so long it has chapters.

Re: Freebie

LOL, I've got three. Hard to hide when they are all different colors, yellow, orange and green.

Sounds like a new starter, some air and a change of fluids and it should be good to go, battery.........

Re: Freebie

The only way we can pull this off is if they are color blind!

Re: Freebie

My wife always seems to notice also when a different colored one shows up...and then she hits me with "you didn't think i was going to notice?"

I tried explaining by telling her that it followed me home ...but she didn't even believe that when a dog actually did follow me home...now I keep some at a friends farm upstate...so now it's a 400 mile round trip to go visit them

Re: Freebie

I would love to keep them someplace else... say 5 miles away. That 400-mile trip would seem a bit long to me.

Re: Freebie

If you were not so far away your problem could be solved. I would just come get it. I do not have a GT18 as yet in the collection.

Re: Freebie

Looks like the Ariens is about 460 hours. Interestingly it looks like it resets at 600 hours so it could also be at 1060 hours. Or 1660. Or 2260...

Re: Freebie

I'd sooner believe the low hours as the guy i got it from told me he's the second owner and it was used for snow blowing only, so he thought it had really low hours.

Re: Freebie

I agree on low hours, it looks to clean to have a lot of hours. Looks like mother nature used it more than anyone else.

Re: Freebie

I have a question on the freewheeling valve.... do I lift if up for freewheel (valve buttons out) or push it down?
