Sears sold me a piece of junk...

A good example of what I have been talking about. Don't let this be you.

Re: 1.5 acre w slope and in need of narrowing. What would you do?

I don't think the OP is looking at a Sear's level mower. Based on his posts thus far, he has mentioned the possibility of a Simplicity Conquest and JD X570. Both are light years ahead of anything Sears would sell. I doubt he would have regrets with either of these purchases.

Lastly, he has repeatedly indicated he does not want to buy used and has a max budget around $6K. What else do you expect him to be considering?

Current:

The Heavy Hitters

1983 Bolens 1600 Eliminator

His feeling and wallet a few years down the road if he makes the wrong choice.

Agree on all counts.
Be sure to post some pics of what you get.

Um, just ruling this out ...
The lowest 4wd/awd JD is a 734? Or is there 1 lower model? What trans are in these (the Deere site doesn't make k# easy to find)

And, would this make plowing my driveway easier for the bigger accumulations?

Still at peace with the entry level GTs I'm considering, but slightly worried it won't solve snow. May be I'll never solve snow with this though ....

Eesh, sorry, I truly owe you guys beers. But @Ariens93GT20 would be the guy making us drink shots and moonshine 🙂

The X570 with Diff lock can handle the snow- you just might have to go out and plow more often. For instance I wouldn't wait till you have 18 inches on the ground before plowing. Or you can eventually get a snow blower ( think the 570 takes the 44 inch) I have the 47 inch blower on my X590 and I had no problem snow blowing 27 inches we got in Albany area in early march

Personally, I wouldn't even mess around with a blade. Blower....much more effective.

I went in yesterday and the dealer asked if I wanted to take the x570 for a ride. I hopped on, spun it around, and sold.
I ordered it. Going to take up to 2 weeks to get here. It's gonna feel like an eternity....

Thanks for all the help talking through this.

Since I see Your In NY Keep In Mind with the New electric Lift Kit(front Mount attachments) for the X570 Will allow You to use the 47inch two stage Blower. Dealer will say it won't work. But it will with the electric lift Kit. But the 44inch will also Handle some deep snow as well

You will be happy with that machine. They are tough and one of Deere's better values in my opinion.

Good choice, if you have deep snow, get a blower and you're all set.

@Sergeant why do you think the dealer will say it won't work? Come November I'm definitely going to be looking for a snow solution so I'm really interested in all these opinions...

Congrats on X570. Keep one thing in mind, if you can swing it, if you buy the blower with tractor, the blower gets the same 4 year warranty the tractor has. Not sure what the warranty is if bought separately

Did that come with the warranty period service agreement provided with the sub compacts?
