Check out what I got this weekend!
I met a guy with a 102 Cub Cadet in his back yard that had tiller on it and a deck with it a few weeks ago helping my Dad load JD garden tractor up to use for parts on his. When I asked Dad before we got over to the guys place, if he'd sell the 102, Dad told me he had been told when the Red Power Roundup was in town (we hosted it in 2014) a guy told him he could probably get $1000 for it. So, I figured it was out of my price range but didn't give up hope. After looking around the guy's yard, talking to him for about an hour and loading Dad's GT, we left with me considering his asking price of $300. So Saturday morning I pulled up with a trailer and asked him if he still wanted to sell it. he said he did and we got to work on it airing up the tires and putting in a good battery I brought along. The float was stuck to the float bowl, so we had to take that off and free it up. The ignition switch needs to be replaced because it only has ignition when the key is in the run position, not start. We got it to run and moving but broke the top off of the spindle where the steering arm connects, so we had to keep lifting the front end up and moving it over to steer it out of the yard and into my trailer. He threw in a WMB Briggs I was interested in and a tall PBR and sent me on my merry way.
Got home and swapped the Cub for my YT16 in the trailer and headed out to an old friends place to do some trading with him and his grandson. His mobility is bad and he has the early sages of Alziemers so I was mainly dealing with his grandson. We walked around the backyard and talked for a while and agreed on trading my Ford YT-16 for a Snapper that needs drive work, a Montgomery Wards Hoe-Trac Deluxe (I got 3 from his grandpa when I was a kid living down the road which is what started this whole GT thing for me), a gas tank that might fit my Allis Chalmers Big Ten, and the front and rear axle for a Lawnboy loafer. After running the deal by his grandpa, we all agreed and the trade was completed. Now my count is 67 garden tractors and they are closer to having a bigger garden tractor to mow the property with. The deck still need to be attached bu that shouldn't take too much and I'll be helping.
Anyway. That's my haul for the weekend.
No picture yet but soon. Sorry.
