8N will not stay running?
First off I want to say Hi to all on this forum.
Now for the question I need help with.
I have owned this 1951 Ford 8N for the past 15 plus year.
When I first got it I rebuilt the engine and painted along with some other repairs, it has always ran and started great. Now the problem, last week when I went to start it, it started (actually fired is more like it) and then quite. I tried several times again with the same results, fired but would not continue running. Then the starter stopped engaging and only clicking at the solenoid. Replace the solenoid and then it turned over and fired but still would not stay running. So I figured it was time to do some maintenance the poor girl. Rebuilt the carburetor and replace the points and coil. At this point I assumed that my problem would have been solved. Tried to start it again and the same results. Fired but would not stay running. Then I notice that if I held the starter button down it will run fine, when I let up on the button it stops running.
I can’t figure this one out. I would not think the starter button would be the problem, but who knows. Any idea guys, I need help bad.
