JD 820 clutch question

I split my 820 today to replace the clutch and have a rookie question. How do you keep the clutch plate aligned while putting the tractor back together? Im thinking i have to install the clutch and pressure plate in the shaft and put it back together and then back it back apart enough to put the bolts in the pressure plate. Will this work.? Thanks in advance

Re: JD 820 clutch question

You can use a dowel sized to fit snugly, or more ideally a clutch alignment tool.

Something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Clutch-Alig...UAAOSwaZdZu~hn

I don't always post on the internet. But when I do, I prefer MTF.

Re: JD 820 clutch question

You need the alignment tool or an input shaft (I saved the one from a broken HI-LO).
