Thumbs down 1541 blues

i thought i would change the hydrostatic oil filter on my 1541 cub
I had a heck of a time getting the old filter out and eventually got it out! So now i put humpty back together and behold i have an oil leak at the filter which i cant seem to get rid of and no fwd reverse or lift. Anyone have any ideas? I have tightened the filter as tight as i can.
I did replace some of the drive shaft parts while i was in there as well. ( the drive had a wobble) I have filled up the hydro static trans with 1.5 galllons of hydro statics hydraulic oil

Re: 1541 blues

Did you wipe the seal area for the filter and did you oil the gasket on the filter? Then tighten 2/3 of a turn past the contact point......hand tight.

Get a CLEAN catch for the fluid when you remove the filter. You'll get 3 or 4 quarts out. The filter is new and clean, but you might want to wash down the backside and bottom of the transmission.

To PURGE the pump, With the rear end in the air, both tires fully off the ground, push the forward lever for a few seconds and then the reverse. Do this many times to get the air pockets out. After it's seemingly well purged, drop it down and try under load.

Going to try to stay Liquid Cooled the rest of my life! Hey, it gets HOT here!
