Jd 316

I have a JD 316 with the Koehler engine and I cannot get it to turn over. I bought a new battery new starter and new battery leads I have 12volts to the starter but it will not even crank over not even a click. I got it running yesterday after replacing all that but now have the same problem. Ive checked the ignition switch and neutral switch both are working fine but have ordered new ones anyway. There is no safety switch on the seat. Any ideas on what I could do greatly appreciated thanks

Re: Jd 316

Is there a safety on the PTO switch?

Re: Jd 316

ok...you have 12 volts to the starter..I am assuming that you are testing the heavy cable directly from the battery...the other wire ( usually purple on a JD ...could be red) that brings power to the solenoid when the key is turned to "start"...did you test that line..with key in start position?....also check where this other wire comes from the battery and connects to circuit breaker...I have seen that 90* connector break off inside the boot that covers the connector on the breaker

I really don’t know. I bought it about a year ago and it was starting fine. the PTO seems to run whether the switch is up or down.

I don't know if you have fixed it yet but I had a similar thing happened to my 316, I had been working it all morning and shut it down to take a break and when I went to start it back up nothing, no lights on the dash nothing, then I happened to jiggle the pto switch off and on a few times retuned it to the off position and wala,it fired right up and hasn't done it since.
