At first we had pick only one diff. The first version of this machine had just one diff on the rear axle. Then the traction would be somewhat transfered to the middle axle by the tracks. Although it worked most of the time, there was a few times that I need traction and the wheels would just slip inside the tracks.

Then a few years later, we tried to find another diff on the cheap and just got something close to the width I needed. I knew it would be an hard task to get the same diff I had.

Anyways, this ended up working better for me as the diff rotated in opposite directions from each other when facing forward. So this allowed be to mount the diffs facing each other and just add the chain drive. If I recall correctly, on diff is 4.1:1 and the other is 3.8:1 ratio, So I had to compensate for this mismatch. I've good maybe 3 to 4% error between the two.
