Thank you for "taking me under your wing".

My main consern with the potential conversion is what size deisel would be comparable to my 18hp Twin Opposed Kohler?

I do understand that deisel engines "typically" have a slower 3200rpm compared to gas being 3600rpm, but I can install a "wee bit larger" pully for the output shaft as it would run my 54" mower deck (if my wife will allow me to sell my MINT 2008 Troy-Bilt Pony).

I really don't know anything regarding Deisel Engine Brands, so trying to compare prices on Craigslist is a bit challenging and "research only" at this point.

I did check out a couple of YouTube videos from a gentleman in Maine that "Mud Romps" his SS16 powered with a Single lung deisel and found it to be a bit overwelming, AND EXPENSIVE!!!

Hesitantly anticipating what is to come next... :-)
