That looks like so much fun... I wonder how fast does it go?

Re: restored 1950s toro golf tractor

One of my late friends had one of those...he called it an "Arnold Palmer golf course mower"..when he got it it had a junk engine,it had a badly cracked block from being filled with water only,no anti-freeze..it sat in a field for decades before he talked the owner into selling it..

He installed a 302 Ford V8 from a crashed Mustang GT and the automatic transmission into it..
It would fry the tires and we never had the nerve to see how fast it would go,we backed off the throttle at 40 mph or so,it started shaking and was too scary..of course now it was no longer a "tractor"...

When he decided to sell it, he put it on his front lawn...

One of the local cops stopped and looked at it--and ran the numbers on the engine, and it was determined to have come from a stolen car!..one that was stolen and wrecked in the next town over..my friend saw it for sale in a local classified ad magazine, and didn't even think it could have been "hot"...
I don't know what happened about that--it was sold and gone a few days later,I'm not sure if he had to pull the engine & trans out or what..he passed away about a month later from cancer,so I never got to ask him if he got in trouble or what..

That is wayyyyyyyyy cool! I would have gotten in so much trouble with that when I was a teenager.

If it's FREE, it's for ME!

ALWAYS remember to remove the spark plug wire from the plug before sticking your hand in the machine!!!! The fingers you save could be your own.
