Cloud Decoding

Hey guys,

Some very nasty storms coming through this evening, remnants of TS Barry. Trees down around the area, closest ones within two miles of my house.

The line was right over our town, down into northern RI. There was blue sky to the South, but black in all other directions.

As I was driving south, and away from the storm, I came across this cloud structure at the leading edge. Any idea what it means?

Open the image and zoom in to see the curved clouds, looks like a York rake.

Re: Cloud Decoding

Looks like a "wall cloud"..

My town near Taunton escaped any high winds or pouring rain,it only poured out for about 10 minutes around 5-6 pm--it did get so dark the street lights came on at 5:30 pm in some places !..

Last year on Oct. 23rd we had a tornado pass right by my house, weather officials said it was a wall cloud, not a funnel, but this photo of it on FB I think proves them wrong..
