Re: Courteous Request Regarding Signatures

it is not that they are on restricted servers, but more than likely the issue is that they have moved the picture on the host and the link to it is no longer valid.

it can also be a problem with YOUR browser/connection if you see it a lot.

if you know someone in particular that every post does this, PM one of us mods so we can look at it. if the image appears for us and not for you, then the problem will most likely be on your end. i've seen DNS issues with an ISP cause images not to load, to rule that out try setting your DNS servers to Google's public DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Re: Courteous Request Regarding Signatures

yeah if it is multiple connections then it is unlikely to be your end. most likely the folks in question just moved the image in their photo storage account and the link broke. we can PM them to fix it, or one of the supers/admins can remove it for them.

A particular member comes to mind...His signature is so big I think he attached a photo. I hope he reds this thread. Thanks Brad.

Edit...this should be posted in a place where all will see it. Not everybody reads "off topic" I think this is very ON topic. IMHO...everybody who has posted on this thread has a nice sig. I'm just thinking of one person.

Re: Courteous Request Regarding Signatures

Guys on cell phones, I pads and small screen devices have a hard enough time viewing the posts. Big sigs with big pics, make it even harder.

Please check your signiture, if you have to ask if it's too big, then most likey it is.

We sure don't want to impose a size limit. But that's an option if we get to many complaints.

Re: Courteous Request Regarding Signatures

Would it be possible to give the end user the option of whether or not to view others' signatures?

You already have that option. Click on User CP. Under Edit Options you uncheck the show Signatures option.

Re: Courteous Request Regarding Signatures

Let me point out, besides having the ability to turn signatures off and on, there is another option check box right under the signature option to turn off avatars for those that don't like seeing the larger ones.
