Hydraulic Generator

I did not know these existed till today. Working on a new Street Hole patch truck and noticed this under the chassis. From the look of the breaker panel it packs a punch.

Re: Hydraulic Generator

I want the hydraulics off of the thing!

I'd be willing to take the generator, too.

Neat!

I think itís efficient as the diesel is running all day anyway to run the hydraulic patcher and has excess power not being used why not run a generator. There are power losses in the hydraulics but not a concern as below total hydro power available. My 2 cents

Care to explain this comment?
The 60 Hertz is the frequency over time average. The tolerance is usually around +/- 0.5 Hertz depending on the grid code where you live, the number of generators coming online/offline to maintain the power needs of the grid and a few other things. Sure, an instantaneous check of the frequency may show different values above and below that tolerance.
