A big shout out and thank you to Rich Nichols for hosting today's Blow-in. I got to meet a lot of people I've only met on line and to reacquaint with some of the guys I've met at various other Gravely events.

The main event was the replacement of a G tractor's PTO clutch. A fascinting demo. Thanks to all who volunteered and collaborated!

The event's name was pretty ironic today. It was sunny and a Springlike 68º! Hardly snow blowing weather!

Thanks Steve. Hope to meet you and others in person in Oct.

I think the idea of a tractor from every year of Gravely production at the Mow In is great. To make that happen without getting an overabundance from some years and none from others it might be worthwhile to post a chart or spreadsheet in a popular forum, such as MTF. People could commit to bringing examples from specific years. it would be obvious what years are missing. The Mow In organizers could put out a call to fill in the blanks. Just a suggestion.

LODGING NOTICE....For Chambersburg PA

I have been to "Visit" about 10 Motels in the Chambersburg, PA area relative to the Chambersburg, PA Gravely meet. Most of the motels in that area are VERY truck/trailer UNFRIENDLY! Some of them, if you enter the lot, you with the help of a spotter or two, will be backing out. Several are even tight for a full size pick-up. Last year my wife and I stayed at the Best Western. VERY limited small spaces in the front of it, with a long walk inside to get to most rooms. NO WAY space for a trailer.

I have spoken with management at the "Days Inn" 30 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, and a group rate there for us ( should be 10 or more rooms, but I think he will be flexible on that number) two double beds , or one queen, $59.95; Two Queen or a king $65.95. Yes, this is an older motel, owned and managed by "Asians" but the rooms they did show me look good. Photos below.

This motel is located on the South East corner of the intersection of US 30, and Interstate 81. It is a straight shot thru town to the exhibit area, about 7 miles west of the motel.

This parking lot has room for a tractor and 53 ft trailer to make a u turn in it with a mess of cars parked in it, and PLENTY room for a roll back, or pickup and any size trailer.

There is a Hoss's Steak and Sea House on one corner of the lot, with very reasonable prices. Soup & Salad, with deserts and ICE CREAM.... all you care to eat is something like $7.50. You can get a steak or seafood dinner and all the salad bar you want for less than $15.00 Within a mile or two, there is a very good Ryans Steak house... buffet that is under $15.00 for an adult dinner, and lunch ( everybody supposed to be at show during lunch) $7.95.

There is a Texas Road House, Red Robin, Ruby Tuesday, Cracker Barrel, Habichi Chinese Buffet, and many other restaurants, within 3 miles for the evening dinner..... after the show.

Given the weather forecast (not good), is everyone still planning to go to Chambersburg?

@arcam8123 - is Gladhill on again this year? What's the date?

Im going h..l or high water. Really not looking to bad I think :dunno:

To be honest, Steve, there's a back story here. My truck got broken into, the window is smashed, the radio stolen, and the dash torn up. The insurance company will fix it, but it will be at least a week. I reserved a rental truck with a hitch, but the price is steep, more than $250, all in.

My daughter REALLY wants to go, but I leaning toward not going. I guess I was looking at the weather as an excuse.

Ah geeze, Ron! I was hoping :praying: Gladhill could fill my daughter's jonesing for a gravely meet!

Man that really sucks Mikey. I would be all over the shop to cover the rental or their insurance. But I don't know what the local laws allow.
In my neck of the woods, my wife got hit from behind. The cops show up, write up the person behind her and give her a case number. Then they tell her it's a $20 fee to get a copy of the report to file with the insurance company. It's so nice to be a victim twice.
I hope it all works out.

Saw the ad/flyer on Craigslist, making me check in here.

My brother and I will be there Saturday. Not bringing any of our 4 8000 series riders tho. Be our first time to a Gravely meet and 15+ years since an antique engine/tractor meet.

We'll be the two 6'1" guys that get confused as being twins even tho he's 3 years younger.

We're way too early and tired.

#113 ·
Just got to thinking about this yesterday. Will many folks get there Friday? I am trying to plan things and I may be through there Friday before coming back on Saturday ( I live pretty close).

#116 ·
Never been to a mow-in. Do people sell and swap all three days or is there a time set aside for that? Is there a schedule of events published somewhere? I don't know that I could be there on Thursday. Is it possible to set up stuff to sell on Friday or even Saturday?

#117 ·
The best days are Friday and Saturday. Friday early for the rare stuff and Sat. late for the bargains. The swap meet area is open the whole time. You can come in and setup or leave anytime. If you are a member, the 20x30' space is free. It's free for anybody to show a tractor.

The event schedule is in the works and should be out soon.
