Re: Gravely Mow-Ins, Shows, Swap Meets, Gatherings, Etc.

Clearly Steven is planning to come to Brownsville to play in the dirt.

I heard that John brings his spare 408's and loans them out to his buddies for a whole year, spreading the 408 addiction affliction.

Thanks.

Re: Gravely Mow-Ins, Shows, Swap Meets, Gatherings, Etc.

Sometimes it's 6 years! I picked up a 408 I bought on my way to the 2011 Brownsville Mow-In and popcorn popper stored it for me all those years! Thanks Tom!
I borrowed a trailer and picked it up along with Joe's 408 and a parts machine on Thursday. Sharing the love of 408's all around. The 1977 408 has a great home, and I will complete the work needed on Joe's machine before next Mow-In, so it can go to its next home. Here is a shot of the early 1970 and the 1977 at the show.

I plan to set up shop to tackle transmission repairs over the winter. I have 3 that need work.

Is that a Gravely 408 cutaway deck, John? The drives both look useable. Good thing they have aluminum housings.

The two 408s look good together.

I should be there for the first half of Saturday. I have mowing to do in the afternoon. Looking forward to it. I'll be looking for minor stuff (8163-T carb power needle) but I could be talked into a cart if I see one.

Re: Gravely Mow-Ins, Shows, Swap Meets, Gatherings, Etc.

I had a good time (as usual). I was most tempted by the 60" sickle mower that was in great shape and only $100. If I had some hope that it wasn't too heavy for my L model then I would have bought that thing on the spot.

I guess Sunday was a washout, but Saturday morning was pretty nice!

Hi Greg,

Do you happen to know who was selling that sickle mower? I would be interested if it is still available.

thanks

No, I didn't get his name. I figured it was a local guy because he only had a few things to sell. Maybe someone else on here remembers him. If you look at Steve's third picture, I think his truck was sitting in that area.

Good luck!

Greg

Re: Gravely Mow-Ins, Shows, Swap Meets, Gatherings, Etc.

Will there be a Gravely swap meet at the CVAEMA show in Chambersburg, PA on April 28, 29? If so, are they setting up next to the tractor pull? Who is planning to go? I'm coming from the Adirondacks in NY with an empty SUV.

Yes to the swap meet, but we will be setting further back by the tree line. where the steam engines use to be. You go in the same way, but just keep going a bit further.

The weather is looking good. I know there's a trailer load coming from Michigan and another from Kentucky.
