Lol...Forget 10s, your 8102 would likely pull around tractors with double the horsepower.

Ugly like Beauty must be in the eye of the beholder - I like the look of some Gravely riders more than others, but have never seen any that were ugly. The 408's look a little too much like all those other "common" tractors, but in your heart you know their insides are Gravely.

That's right, plus we still need to factor in the beauty of the Gravely engineering, performance, and ridiculous over-building on top of the pleasing appearance of such a machine - born and bred for work!

Over building. Some would say they were built like they are supposed to be built.

The do hide the gas cap and make it easy to service the battery, hydraulics, and electrical.

I did not mean to leave the 400 out of my original post.

Where the G front end fails in beauty, it excels in function. But Gravely could have done the same with the narrow character of the original design.

I love the G's real headlights too.

It would have been a little difficult to hide the 408's front engine configuration, but at least Gravely kept the overall design theme consistent with the rest of the 'family'. They were pretty distinctive in their 1970 introduction with their 'all-white' paint, and blended with the rest of the line better when they changed over to red & white paint in 1973. I would agree, however that without the distinctive Gravely hood stripe, they do look similar to a lot of other brands of homeowner tractors in the 70's.

Those headlights really work once you get them out from behind that defuser lens and install 60W lamps:
