Onan twin throttle linkage (old vs. new)
My 818T has a newer P218 performer type engine on it and after the restoration, I can't seem to get the throttle lever to behave properly. The idle return spring on the engine pulls the throttle lever back down to idle (even more so with the engine running and the governor in action).
Maybe I put the lever back together incorrectly, but there is just not enough friction to hold a throttle position. Full-throttle is ok, but only because there is a detent on the far end of the throttle position.
Did the old Onan's have a different throttle spring set-up that worked better with the throttle lever on 800 series tractors?
Any tricks to improve this?
