38 inch blower squeal

Ok, blowing the heavy snow today...got about 16 inches.

About half way through, the PTO would squeal when the blower was lifted (manual lift), and would subside when the PTO was kicked out. I thought it was the driveshaft rubbing the washer on the lift arm...so I swapped to a smaller washer. That helped for a few passes then started again...it may still be something like that, and I have to look at that; but it sounds like a bearing locking up.

I just don't understand why lifting the blower makes it happen. The stub shaft has new bearings, so that's unlikely the source. I'm thinking it's a bearing in the cast section of the blower...is that common?

Re: 38 inch blower squeal

Sounds as if you safety clutch has worn down some and needs readjusting.

What model tractor, what model snowblower?

Faux Pas are my forte

No safety clutch other than for the reels, this is the 38 inch blower on a rider.
