gravely 5260

I'm posting for a friends son and hope I'm in the right place. I'm normally in the big allis chalmers tractor section, so Please forgive my stupidity I have never owned or even been around a walk behind gravely. but he is looking for a shaft that goes from the machine to a post hole auger. the machine is a Gravely 5260 if you need the info on the auger/tiller let me know I'll see what I can get. even if somebody has a part# or diagram or some thing of that sort it will be better than what we know now. He said the auger is also a tiller? thanks dt.

wow, I just re-read my post and I really sound clueless...

Just cause it's orange don't make it a tractor, there's only one Allis Chalmers

Re: gravely 5260

I'm guessing he just needs a piece of hex bar used for the rotary plow....

If I'm wrong, I'interested in the right answer..

Re: gravely 5260

Maybe take a look at this owner's manual for the rotary plow and see if anything looks familiar. http://gravelymanuals.com/pdf/Rotary...n_Man_0774.pdf

Re: gravely 5260

The post hole digger had narrow blades and long hex shaft for cutting deep holes. Put a 1-3/4 inch pipe coupling I think I used on the shaft when you put it into attachment drive from underneath it is needed to keep the blades from kicking back up into the round casting. Should do this too with the short hex shaft plows I always do this because blade tips can break hitting the round casting. BTW you are not limited to gravely as post hole digger parts are available from many sources. Old abandoned gravely attachments are cheap parts sources problem is finding them.

Thanks for the info, good tip on the pipe coupling. know about searching for parts. I have to go to Va. this week coming up to get a steering pinion for my 5020. It's always a warm fuzzy fielding when ya type in your tractor into a parts web site and every parts says unavailable.
