Need help picking transmission!
Hey guys. Im building a kart out of two mower frames welded together. The rar half was set up for a vertical shaft engine, and trans with a tension clutched belt driving it from underneath, and a chain drive out the side.
I see various peerless and fake peerless units called pro grade which fit this description. But i have no idea if the clones are any good, wether i should get 3, 4, or 5 gears, or how much power each is rated for or rpms.
Most vauglely list what engines are likely to be driving it. 8-12hp give or take. I want to give it at least 14 from this kawasaki fc420v i have from the broken dixon i used for the front frame rails.
Then my other question is, i want this to go pretty fast, and also to be cruising at low rpm in high gear so i dont always run out of fuel. I already doubled the tire circumfrence. But do i gear up the trans, and spin it faster, or gear up the axle, and put more load on the small looking output most have. Maybe split the difference?
