Does this k321 sound healthy?

I got our old Jacobsen running again. I think my dad told me that he thought it might be about to throw a rod or that it was knocking. I'm not sure if that can be diagnosed from a video but I thought it wouldn't hurt to try.

Doesn't sound that bad to me, but I am far from an expert. I have an automotive stethoscope I use on my stuff to track down noises.

Sometimes It's better to keep your mouth shut, and have the world think you a fool, than to speak, and remove all doubt.

This one might be a little better. Longer and I got it from all around.

Sounds like it wants to go for a romp around the yard but until I'm sure it's not gonna blow the engine I'll probably keep it in the shed.

Re: Does this k321 sound healthy?

That one did sound worse actually. Would not be too hard to pull the head and check for piston slap. (side to side movement) Or turn the crank by hand and check for play in the rod or wrist pin. A tractor sitting in the garage is of no use and not much fun. I would still get a stethoscope and try to isolate the area the noise is coming from. Top end or bottom end if possible. You might get surprised and find it's not the engine at all, but something else knocking somewhere. There is always hope. You have nothing to lose. Stethoscopes are pretty cheap.

Sounds pretty good to me, and no oil or smoke when you are revving or letting off the throttle. I think I'd put that into use.

Couple videos of the piston movement. Does that look right?

Looked like it was moving in the cylinder OK. I didn't see any deep scratches, could tell if there was any top of the cylinder wear as it had some oil there but possibly some.
