Re: Lets see your Jakes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picked this freebie up recently, '74 or '75, GT-xx I think. No hood, unfortunately. It had been sitting outside for about 10 years. Dragged it home and got it to run on choke well enough to drive around the yard. Came with a very rugged 3-blade 42" deck.

Needs a bunch of work but I think this will make quite a decent mowing machine at the very least. The electric PTO clutch and shaft drive out back is neat, must be for a tiller.

Same rear axle and hydro drive as my MTD 990, which speaks to the ruggedness of it.

Anybody around New England have a hood and grill off of a parts machine they would be willing to part with? Going to need to do something for a gas tank, too.

Haha, they are most of the reason why I picked it up in the first place!

I run wheel weights year round. They make so much of a difference with traction.

I think someone bolted the rear wheels on backwards, not sure if it was for weight mounting or what.

Same as my Ford LGT..... tough as nails..... heck, who needs a hood !

Mine is always in the dirt. Weights and chains stay on all year.

Re: Lets see your Jakes!!!!!!!!!!!!

This thing has been sitting in my barn for almost a year. I finally got it up and running.
1970 Super Chief 1450

It needed Carb to be rebuilt and new ignition coil, points and spark plug. I need to adjust the points now that it runs, I can hear a timing issue, but other than that it starts right up and runs pretty strong.
