I think it is Panzer Blue.
Looked to have recent fronts, and the metal seemed straight.
I believe it has hydraulics.
Did they ever come in this color?
Came with what looks to be a brinley disc and a deck.

Re: New Economy to me

Mine, grandfather bought new is orange...very close to Chevy engine orange and that's all the ones I've ever seen were orange. Yours looks like good paint and good condition, I like the blue.
I used mine a lot yesterday. Amazing little tractors.

Re: New Economy to me

Hi all after the 50's came from the factory painted Case Flambeau Red (looks orange) the factory had a few blue one and I think green in the 40's and early 50's but used the Case Flambeau Red for all after the few different colors.
If you like the color you have a nice tractor

Re: New Economy to me

Hi post a picture of the deck and hitch/mule drive there are two types of hitches so the belts are different
Ok I see your tractor dosen't have the quick hitch blocks so the mule drive belt should be a A85 1/2" X 87"

Re: New Economy to me

Thank you. Is there a particular brand that seems to give you better service?
I'm playing with the carb now,
I hate ethanol.

Re: New Economy to me

Hi, no brand but the Kevlar belts do stand up better, what kind of carb problems are you having? Just to be a spoiler I doubt ethanol is the problem, here in Minnesota we've had 10% ethanol since the early 80's with no problems once the gas lines were replaced it does and will clean the gunk out of the fuel system and require filter changes at first.

Re: New Economy to me

Carb bowl had dirt in the bottom. Fuel lines will need replacing, and that will be another day. New petcock needed as well. The old gravel in the gas tank I guess.

What has us confused is the coil. No spark at the plug.
Is this a cdi ignition?
The lead to the bottom of the coil is not receiving power. Does one of these wires go to the trigger?
The lead at the ignition switch that goes to the coil is not producing power.
Switch will crank engine. No fire
Checked continuity on the wire. Good to the switch.
Is there a schematic for this k321 showing the ignition switch?

Re: New Economy to me

Hi yes that is the Kohler breakerless magneto ignition system and its good that you have no power as that will burn it in less than a second and replacements are out of this world expensive, most convert to battery / points ignition if they have trouble, if it starts and runs do nothing.

Re: New Economy to me

It does not start and run.
I get no power readings at the coil.
Is power generated and does that power trigger the coil?
The ignition switch when off is a ground?

Yes when the switch is off the mag is grounded
Under the flywheel the stator has a excite coil to power the system there is a trigger module under the cooling cover
there should be no power readings at the coil.

There are no plug and play aftermarket systems at one time Kohler had a reofit points kit I'll attach some PDF manuals

Re: New Economy to me

I found out that Kohler at one time made a kit to allow the installation of points for these engines,
237750-s but that involves the teardown of the engine to get blocking plug you drive in out. You can rob the guts of a points system from most k engines, I was lead to believe and get the parts that way.
Aftermarket cdi systems do exist.
The compression seems low and there are signs of oil leakage everywhereon a unit that may well have 2000 hours on it.
It has a good deck and like new tires and recent clutch. . I will sell it for $400 and break even if I can't find a modern donor engine. 2100 series cub cadets are a likely donor, having been used by others before. Someone is interested in the k engine alone.
In my head I have already moved on. Thank you all very much for your time and wisdom.
