Ford Gray or White

1965 Ford 2000; 3 cyl. gas; 4/1 Transmission: My tractor is in the shop being tuned up and getting a new set of tires. When I get it back I'd like to put a fresh coat of paint on it. Got what I think is the correct Ford blue for the body but the wheels and fenders seem to be an off white instead of gray. Can anyone tell me the name of the paint from Tractor Supply that matches this creamy color? I've done a google search and come up with some tractor fleet colors but want something off the shelf from TS. Thanks.

Attached is a photo of my 2000. The colors in the photo are pretty true to actual colors.

Re: Ford Gray or White

+1 on interested in the response to this. Looking at the paper paint samples on the cans, "IH White" looked the closest to the ford 'cream'. Can anyone confirm?

I bought a can anyway and could shoot a test piece to see how it looks, just haven't had time.

Re: Ford Gray or White

FYI...I found these sites but they don't refer to Tractor Supply paints specifically. Two or three greys are shown so I'm wondering if the off white on my Ford 2000 (3 cylinder, 1965 model) shouldn't be one of the Ford greys. One of the below sites is supposed to be a history of the Ford fleet colors and there is a 'Tractor White'. Not sure if that is for my tractor or not. I'm confused (once again)

Re: Ford Gray or White

I've seen the same many times, and Still can't confirm what the right color is. As far as I know, the ford white/cream is often referred to as 'buff' but in actual practice, those that have repainted in some form of 'buff' end up with a color that is far more yellow than what looks to be original.

The color you're looking for is Ford light gray.
Here is what I use and its an identical match.

Re: Ford Gray or White

Thanks, a good color reference chart. I'm gonna look at the Ford Light Grey although I'd swear that my light color is more of a cream or off-white. May just get a can and see how it looks. Thanks for the info.

Re: Ford Gray or White

Just noticed that Antartica mentioned using I.H. White which, on the chart, looks closer to my color than the Ford Light Grey. Will report back once I've found something acceptable. Thanks.

Re: Ford Gray or White

Yes - Looking at the chart IH white looks much closer to the 'buff' that is on my tractor. It is definitely not the grey.

Re: Ford Gray or White

IMO IH white is not a match on the fords although it does look good on my cubs. I mix my own by using rustolemn paint almond, black and yellow but my tractor are workers not show quality.
If just doing rims and fenders try a spray can of the lightest grey you can find. Even if you are taking it to a show there will be the same tractor with ten different colors all claiming that theirs is the "right" color.
Here's a shot of my '66 2000
