BCS 852 - frozen after snowthrowing

I have a BCS 852 with the 28" single stage snowthrower. During the last usage, I was throw in the wind. Needless to say, everything got coated with a fine layer of snow. Yesterday I went out to run it, and when I let go of the clutch, I could hear this faint clattering/grinding but no engagement. The reverse / forward linkage is frozen as well. My guess is that the clutch cable is frozen, and I just need to wait until it gets about 32 again.

Looking at single use dedicated snowblowers, I can see how all the linkage is hidden behind panels. Not so with the BCS. With that in mind, how does one use a BCS without it freezing the cables after being in the snow and cold?
