Not another 'What's my tractor?' thread

Sorry everyone! I looked. I googled. I searched through the forum here. I cannot find anything quite like what I have. I'd appreciate any input that might help identify it.

The engine looks like the Briggs & Stratton that Todd posted on July 3, so it may be a Briggs motor. Note the spark plug over the intake and the muffler angle. The flywheel cover is cast iron. The start mechanism looks like it takes a crank, but there isn't one handy. It looks like a bendix gear that the rotation of the crankshaft pushes outward once it has started.

There is an ID plate on the side of the engine, but it was painted and that has worn off. There's no discernable info on the plate, no serial number stamp or the like.

There's a little gearbox directly off the output of the engine. This drives a chain sprocket that in turn drives a shaft behind the engine. The wheels are chain drive and can be individually clutched in and out with a pair of levers at the end of the handlebars.

It's a beastie alright. I've extracted it from the barn my uncle left behind when he passed in 1981. So it's been there for at least 36 years. I'm not sure when he acquired it. Surprisingly, the tires still have air in them.

Most definitely one I've never seen before. If you don't get an answer here in a few days, there is a great walk behind group on Facebook.

It is a 2-wheel tractor. Hence the reason I posted it in the 2-Wheel Tractor section.

I am curious though, with the chain drive I have to imagine it would be a little rough on the operator. You'd have to keep it properly tuned so that it runs smoothly. If it ran rough, or backfired, or if you hit a rock while plowing that would feed directly back through the handlebars.

It's not likely that I'll get it running. I don't have the time to work on it. If anyone has any interest in it, let me know. It would be a real shame to scrap it.

Think it is a Bolens. Search bolens two wheel garden tractors and see if this is it.

I think ikillbugs is correct! I searched for Bolens 2 wheel tractors and found a lot of info, some videos on youtube and more. Looks like what I have is a Bolens Huski.

Re: Not another 'What's my tractor?' thread

I remember seeing a similar tractor on one of the Facebook GT pages just the other day, with that funky cross shaft drive mechanism. I can't recall what it was though. There is some neat stuff on there..!!
