Engine Pulley Size

Hello Everyone!

Watersteps here, I'm back into David Bradleys, well sort of.
For years and years I bought and sold DB 2 wheel tractors all over the US and some countries outside the US.
A few years ago I sold everything I had and moved to northern PA.

First, Hi, to all my old friends and customers. Second, I'm just playing with them right now, nothing for sale.

The DB I have right now will be used around my Potter County home. It has a 5HP Honda engine with a 7/8th inch shaft, so I need to make a pulley and I'm not sure of the size.

So, I need the size of the 2 belt pulley that fits on the engine and drives the tractor and a front mounted weed cutter. Length and OD would be great. I think they were about 4 inches long and 2 to 2 1/2 OD.

Thanks in advance, watersteps from PA.

Re: Engine Pulley Size

Thank You but I need to know the factory pulley size. This pulley mounts on the engine crankshaft. It has 2 belt grooves one drive the tractor transmission and the other drives the pulley that turns the shaft that operates the cutter bar weed cutter. The pulley is about 2 to 2 and 1/2 inches OD and about 4 inches long. The sizes are standard for some DB tractors. I will try to find a picture and attach it to this post. Thanks again.

This may help you some. It shows pictures of various pulley's used on different models, gives pulley diameter, and groove width on them, but not the total length. I guess you could figure that one out. And, of course, the smaller the pulley to the transmission sheave, the slower the ground speed. If I remember right, the manual says not to run the cutter bar mower at over 3/4 throttle. The smaller engine pulleys were 1-1/2", and the 5hp models like my 917.575120, aka Big 5 pulleys were 2-1/2' & 2-5/8".

We have a pretty decent DB page on Facebook, if you happen to dabble on there. Quite a few knowledgeable guys on there. One of them put this page up a couple weeks ago, so I saved the link to my favorites, for easy access.

There also used to be a site up someone posted on the Yahoo DB group. It had every tractor manual, and implement manual on there. Not sure what happened to the fellow that had it on a separate site, but it was taken down about a month ago. One or two of the guys on the FB DB page have it on CD, and are looking to put it up somewhere, so it will be accessible again.

Hopefully this site will help you out. There is also some other useful info there. Home

I know this is a late response to the original question, but I took dimensions from an original 4315 pulley and modified it to work with my shaft. You can use it as a guide to make yours if you like.
